A few days ago, a huge Column Condensing Tower produced for the Enefit 280-2 Shale Oil Plant project left Unidro’s workshop to reach the port of Marghera, near Venice. From there it will sail to the installation plant in Estonia.

The unit that will be part of the Oil Condensation Plant has giant dimensions: at 85 tons and ø3.3m x 34m(length), its production turned out to be a demonstration of the capability and flexibility that has always characterized Unidro and its outstanding specialized Team.

Unidro has been awarded the water treatment packages by CTJV, a joint venture of Chiyoda Corporation (Japan) and Technip Energies, for the North Field East Project (“NFE”). The NFE Project covers the delivery of 4 mega trains, each with a capacity of 8 million tons per annum (“Mtpa”) of Liquified Natural Gas (“LNG”), and associated utility facilities. It will include a large CO2 Carbon capture and sequestration facility, leading to more than 25% reduction of Green House Gas emissions when compared to similar LNG facilities.

In order to meet the very strict process performance, and comply with a set of demanding quality and supply requirements, Unidro was selected by CTJV as being the preferred partner to design, engineer, manufacture and supply the integrated water treatment packages.

Qatargas is the world’s largest LNG company, it produces and supplies 77 million tons of LNG annually across the globe. Chiyoda and Technip Energies are both strong players in Qatar; we are very proud to have been awarded this important project, which is a great achievement of the whole team involved in the extensive and detailed proposal preparation process.

This project is a great example of our #MissionWater purpose, valuing the importance of sustainable water use, energy and resource recovery with all different stakeholders, to secure a smooth operation of the largest LNG production facility in the world and anticipating on the fast growing demand for renewable energy.

Unidro is one of the most reliable and wanted partners of the world’s major EPC contractors and it has proven this once again through new large and prestigious projects acquired in recent months, The Zohr Gas Field Project and The Manyar Smelter Project.

The Zohr Gas Field Project

The Zohr gas field is the biggest gas discovery in the Mediterranean Sea, spread over 100km2 within the offshore Shorouk Block (Egypt), it is operated by Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel), a 50:50 joint-venture between the Italian oil and gas Eni and the state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).

Unidro is not new to this field, as the company had already been involved in the Zohr project since 2016 for the supply of several water treatment and process units. Recently, in the frame of a further Project expansion, the Client selected Unidro for the supply of a new condensate treatment plant, including deoiling on Activated Carbon Filters and polishing on resin Mixed Bed Exchangers, with a system capacity of 160 m3/h.

Zohr turns out to be a challenge for Unidro, since a super-fast track execution is requested. In fact, the shipment shall take place within 9 months after PO, an extremely short period of time especially in the current market situation when shortage of materials and components is often experienced.

As of today, 2.5 months after kick-off, the progress is very good and the expectation is to meet the target delivery date.

The Manyar Smelter Project

The Manyar Smelter Project is an initiative of Freeport McMoRan, a US based metal producer which has started construction of a $3bn copper smelter facility in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia.

Expected to be one of the biggest copper smelters in the world upon completion, this facility will have a production capacity of 1.7 million tonnes (Mt) a year of copper concentrate and it will produce 600,000t of copper cathode.

Unidro has been selected by the EPC Contractor (JV of Chiyoda Corporation, Japan and CTCI, Taiwan) to design and deliver a large water remineralization plant (to produce 1298m3/h Plant Water and 16m3/h Filtered Water), and the Sanitary Water Treatment Plant.

For all the above, these awards underscore how the top level quality, the large expertise and above all the high reliability guaranteed by Unidro are the key drivers for selection by our customers, not only in the O&G market but also in other heavy industry segments, as for the Manyard Smelter Project.
